Heaviest Onion Competition

The Heavy Onion weigh-in, sponsored by Kitchen Garden, will take place at 12 noon on Friday 17 September in Hall 2. The world record has been broken no less than 9 times at the Harrogate Show, the current record of the late John Sifford being set at Harrogate in 2005 with an onion weighing 16lbs 8.37oz. Peter Glaisbrook, from Newark, Nottinghamshire, won in 2009 with his onion weighing 14lbs 10oz. Will the record be broken in 2010? Visit the show to find out.

The National Onion Championships also take place at the show with classes for the 3 heaviest onions and onions of exhibition quality. Judging will take place on Thursday 16 September with the results displayed at the show.
