Harrogate Flower Show information for disabled visitors

The Harrogate Flower Shows at the Great Yorkshire Showground have excellent facilities for the disabled visitor. All marquees are fully ramped and floored, and most of the show is accessible from hard surfaces.

Free companion ticket

Wheelchair users and visually-impaired visitors may bring in one companion free of charge.  Advance tickets will be available from mid November and close at noon on Tuesday 17 April 2012. Please note companion tickets cannot be ordered online, please call the office or they are available at the gate. For ticket enquiries please contact the office on 01423 546158.

Parking

Disabled parking for around 700 cars is available next to the main entrance. This is allocated on a first-come first-served basis for registered disabled badge-holders only, please display your blue badges. Please follow the AA signs.

Wheelchair hire

A limited number of manual wheelchairs are available free of charge and may be reserved in advance by calling the show office on 01423 546158. Donations to the Red Cross, which supplies the wheelchairs, are much appreciated. If you have ordered a wheelchair and are unable to attend the show, please let us know so that it can be reallocated. Wheelchairs not allocated by midday will be reallocated unless we are advised of late arrival.

Coach travel

The coach park has been relocated away from the main entrance (Blue Gate) to allow for extra disabled-badge holder parking.

Any wheelchair user, with their companion, arriving by coach can use the special free courtesy bus service from the coach park to the main entrance. All other visitors arriving by coach now enter via Brown Gate, directly opposite the coach park and can either walk up the hill or catch an internal courtesy bus.

Please note: we would advise that any coach passengers not visiting the show should ask that they are dropped off in town first as the shuttle bus to/from the town centre is located some distance from the coach park.

Early start for wheelchair users

An 08.30hrs start is available to each wheelchair user and one companion to allow them to have a look around the exhibits in the flower halls before the main crowd of visitors arrives. Any accompanying visitors will be required to wait until the normal show opening time at 09.30hrs.

Please note that all areas may not be open on the first day if judging is still in progress.
