Who can apply?

Categories are divided into the following:

Fresh Start – a new award, aimed at encouraging schools and colleges in becoming involved with horticulture through hands-on activity and based upon horticultural projects as part of the national curriculum.

What account information is required for applications over £500?

If you are applying for the ‘Improving our Landscape’ fund and your application is for over £500, you must provide a copy of your group’s most recent accounts signed by your group’s treasurer. If you do not have accounts, you could submit a three-month record of your income and expenditure, signed by the group’s treasurer. This could be a spreadsheet kept by the group, logging all the income and all the itemised spending of the group. Bank statements will not be accepted. Accounts do not have to be audited. Please do not send your original accounts, we can accept copies.

How much extra information can an application include?

Applicants are welcome to supplement their application with one A4 side of additional information.

How long does it take to get a decision?

Successful applicants will be notified, by email, by Friday 3 August 2018.  If you have not received a response by this time, unfortunately your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. Please note that due to the high demand for grants, NEHS is unable to enter into correspondence regarding individual unsuccessful applications.

How do grant payments work?

If your grant is successful, then a 50% payment of your total awarded grant will be paid into your account by BACS transfer on or around 13 August 2018, and identified on your bank statement as NEHS Grant Payment. The second half of the grant will be awarded on completion of an Activity Report by the grant holder, again with the same bank identification.  Report submission forms are issued in November 2018, with all reports to be returned for second grant payment in December 2018.

Please note that the payment window will close on Friday 11 January 2019, by which time all activity reports must be submitted in order to be eligible for second payment. Those applicants submitting reports after this time can only do so with the prior agreement of NEHS.
