Information for disabled visitors
Harrogate Flower Shows at the Great Yorkshire Showground have excellent facilities for the disabled visitor. All marquees are fully ramped and floored, and most of the show is accessible from hard surfaces.
We welcome all visitors to the show. For those requiring additional assistance of a carer to visit the event, a complimentary carer ticket is available. These can be obtained in advance, with the purchase of show admission tickets, by calling the show office on 01423 648212 or on the day at a ticket kiosk.
Please note that one example of the following supporting documentation must be presented to gate staff on entry to the show: Personal Independence Payments (PIP’s), Severe Disablement Allowance, Attendance Allowance, War Pensioners’ Mobility Allowance or War or Service Disablement Pension, Blind or partially sighted registration certificate (BD8 or CVI Certificate), or confirmation from Social Services or GP that the person has long term disability (including learning) and requires a full time carer.
The above applies to both carer tickets obtained in advance and those requested at the gate. If this documentation is not provided with advance ticket or at the ticket kiosk, a full priced ticket must be purchased. If required, assistance dogs are welcome.
We have Blue Badge parking for around 400 cars next to the main entrance. This is allocated on a first-come first-served basis for registered disabled badge-holders only, Please follow the yellow signs approaching the showground and display your blue badge. Blue badges only give access to the car park and not to the show.
Due to the limited space available, we are not able to accommodate motor homes, caravans or other large vehicles in any parking areas.
Please note all show parking is either on grass or compacted crushed stone.
A limited number of manual wheelchairs are available to hire but need to be booked and paid for in advance by calling the ticket line on 01423 648212. We ask for a contribution of £5.00 per wheelchair, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross who supply them for the show.
If you have ordered a wheelchair and are unable to attend the show, please let us know so that it can be reallocated. Wheelchairs not collected by midday will be reallocated unless we are advised of late arrival.
The coach park is located at Brown Gate opposite the entrance to the show. Please note: we would advise that any coach passengers not visiting the show should ask that they are dropped off in town first as the shuttle bus to/from the town centre is located some distance from the coach park.
The show is open from 9.30am, unfortunately earlier admission is not possible.
